LinkedIn Profile
Born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, from a young age, Jamie has been a strong advocate for those in need of support. At the age of 15, he co-founded a support group for youth living with alopecia, the first of its kind in the area at the time. This led him to pursue a career path in the vulnerable sector, beginning with attending Cape Breton University in the Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies program. This is where he did a work placement in a local nursing home facility, which further solidified his passions. He then attended Toronto Metropolitan University, graduating as a Certified Gerontologist.
Jamie brings 14 years of experience in the non-profit sector, working with numerous non-profit organizations across the Maritime provinces. Throughout these past 14 years of progressive non-profit experience in governance, operations, fundraising and fund development, Jamie has consistently provided organizations with the tools and resources they need to meet the ever-growing demands placed on the non-profit sector. Jamie has developed a proven track record of growing organizational capacity, increasing community engagement, as well as managing effective marketing and communications strategies throughout local communities to address their unique needs.
Having formal training in effective grant writing, organizations have directly benefited from his expertise by securing substantial funding opportunities from local agencies and Community Foundations, national non-profits, as well as municipal, provincial and federal governments. Over the past 14 years he has secured, raised, managed and advocated for upwards of $2,500,000 in support of the mission and vision of these organizations.
